CHENNAI: The New Washermanpet police arrested a constable attached to the Central Industrial Security Force, who allegedly opened five rounds of fire in the air near his residence on Friday. The police said the constable, J. Khet Singh (48), returned to his quarters in New Washermanpet area around 8 p.m. As he was in an inebriated condition, he picked up a quarrel with his wife, after which he pulled out his self-loading rifle, which was loaded with 15 rounds of live ammunition and fired five shots in the air and threatened his wife. His two sons, Bhawan Singh and Ashok Singh, overpowered their father and pulled the gun from his hands. The constable was then taken to the Commandant of CISF at the Port Trust. Mr. Khet Singh was arrested him and remanded.
Arrested for misbehaviour
Kalaiarasan (45), a head constable attached to the Basin Bridge police station, was arrested on charges of misbehaving with a woman home guard on Friday. The police said Kalaiarasan, under the influence of alcohol, allegedly entered the house of the woman and allegedly misbehaved with her. The accused was remanded to judicial custody.
