HYDERABAD: The former Minister, E. Peddi Reddy, has launched a trenchant attack on Union Minister and TRS President, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and warned that the TDP cadre would not keep quiet if any unsavoury incident takes place during the TDP leaders' tours. Moving the resolution on drought, he denounced the recent attack on TDP President, N. Chandrababu Naidu, in Medak and questioned the support enjoyed by Mr. Rao. Stating that the TDP always stood for an integrated State, he advised the TRS leader to wage a fight against the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and Congress president, Sonia Gandhi. Alleging that the Government was not paying attention to drought, he demanded relief works in all affected mandals and steps to prevent migration. Earlier, Mr. Naidu accused the Government of adopting an "anti-farmer policy" and declared that the party would lead the struggle for their welfare. Addressing delegates at Mahanadu after a resolution on the "crisis in agriculture" was moved by Ummareddy Venkateswarulu, he lashed out at the Government for not providing the promised Rs. 500 crore Market Intervention Scheme in the budget, input subsidy and compensation to the kin of all farmers who committed suicide. "We will fight till the promised amount of Rs. 2 lakh is given," he added. He accused the Government of failing to provide adequate water for crops under the Krishna Delta and Nagarjunasagar. The resolution warned the Government to give up its "anti-farmer" policies. It demanded minimum support price and crop insurance for all crops by taking village as unit.
