PONDICHERRY: T. Murugan, executive committee member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Tamil Nadu State unit, on Sunday alleged that a three-member group, reportedly belonging to the INTUC, had assaulted him and a few other newly-elected members of the CITU-led Indian Coffee House Cooperative Workers and Credit Society Employees Unions on Saturday. Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Murugan said in the election to the unions, the CITU (led by CPI-M) emerged on top with all nine members (sponsored by CITU) getting elected. He said as soon as the results went in favour of the CITU members of rival group indulged in violence and assaulted him and a few other newly-elected CITU nominees. A complaint had been lodged with the Superintendent of Police (north), he said.
