GUNTUR: The police on Sunday picked up three rice mill workers from Kocherla in Ipuru mandal of Guntur district for interrogation. The killing of a constable by Maoists took place close to the rice mill. The three were identified as Atchaiah, G. Yekobu, and P. Hassan, who the police believe could have seen the Maoists, who had come in a tractor from Bollapalli in a large group as revellers at the village festival. The Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee joint secretary, L.N. Murthy, in a statement at Vinukonda, has condemned the killing of the constable and criticised the Maoists' statement that it was a retaliatory measure for providing arms to Nepal.
