Indo-Pak initiative to resolve conflict hailed
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
The Pakistan-India People's Forum for Peace and Democracy has welcomed the initiative taken by the Governments of India and Pakistan towards the resolution of the 21-year-old conflict over Siachen, facilitating another round of Defence Secretary level talks on the issue.
The Forum's Andhra Pradesh chapter president, Nanak Singh Nishter, and Chenna Basavaiah, the member national committee, Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace (CNDP), said the immediate task before the two countries was to expedite the process towards a final resolution of the issue and stop the human and economic loss on both sides.
They urged the two Governments to take forward the spirit that was exuded by the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, and the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, earlier this year of pursuing irreversible peace process.
