Software professional

commits suicide

A software professional, Bhupendra Chandrakar (28) of KPHB Colony, reportedly hanged himself from the ceiling at his residence on Saturday night. He was a native of Chattisgarh and working in a software consultancy firm at Madhapur. In a suicide note purportedly written by Chandrakar, he said that no one was responsible for his death and that he was resorting to the extreme step as he was not satisfied with his current job. He had joined the firm a month ago. Previously, he worked in ECIL for about four years.

Charge against three

film exhibitors

Sri Satyanarayanamma Film Productions on Sunday lodged a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police alleging that three cine exhibitors from Guntur had cheated them by giving fake demand drafts for Rs. 11.50 lakhs. In the complaint, it was said that the exhibitors -- Koteswara Rao of Mangalagiri, Lakshman Rao of Chilkaluripeta and B. Venkateswarulu of Pidguralla -- had taken prints of `Narasimhudu' by giving the DDs. When the DDs were produced in Bank of Baroda branch at Jubilee Hills, bank officials reportedly said that they were asked by the exhibitors not to release the amount.

Attempt to rape

third class student

An attempt to rape a nine-year-old girl was allegedly made by her neighbour, E. Venu, under Chikkadpally police station limits on Saturday. The police said the girl, a third class student, was lured by Venu (25), a former convict, to his house at Phoolbagh area in Domalguda where he was believed to have tried to rape her. However, when the girl raised an alarm, he ran away from the place. The police were on the lookout for the accused person.

B.Com student dies in accident

A B.Com student, Syed Ali Rashid Adil (21), died while his friend, Qamar Mehdi, suffered injuries when the motorcycle in which they were travelling was hit by an RTC bus, near Bharat Garden, at Champapet on Saturday. They were on their way to attend marriage. Adil and Mehdi were students of Pragati College. The condition of Mehdi is said to be serious.

Two killed in road mishap

Two persons -- D. Srinivas (21) and S. Kumar (23) - were killed on the spot when the motorcycle on which they were travelling was hit by a lorry near Kandlakoya crossroads in Medchal on Sunday. They were residents of Qutbullahpur and were returning home after attending a friend's marriage.
