NEW DELHI: Indian shooters fared badly in the World Shotgun Championship in Lonato, Italy, according to information received here. Manavjit Sandhu finished at 17th in the trap event, while Aarti Singh Rao was at 24th in the women's skeet. Though Manavjit started well with a perfect 25/25, he could not maintain the form in the next three rounds as he shot 23, 23 and 22. Manavjit improved in the last round with a score of 24 and totalled 117/125 in five rounds to finish at 17th in a field of 140. Two other Indians in the fray Anwer Sultan and Zorawar Sandhu got 29th and 88th positions respectively. In the team event, the trio, with an aggregate of 324, finished at 12th. In the double trap event, World No.2 and Olympic silver medallist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore finished at 14th place. In the skeet, Amit Sanghi was best among the Indians. He totalled 109 for the 56th spot. Baba Prithviraj Singh Bedi, with a score of 99, took the 80th slot, while Amardeep Singh Rai (97 points) was placed at 83rd. In the team event, India finished at 18th. In the women's skeet Haryana shooter Aarti Singh Rao totalled 64 for the 24th place. In the trap event, Shagun Chowdhary finished at 54th with 52 points.
