HASSAN: Of the 3,17,992 persons eligible to vote, 1,31,298 cast their votes in the elections to six Agriculture Produce Marketing Committees (APMC) in the district on Sunday. The voter turnout was 44 per cent, according to sources in the district administration. While Sakleshpur APMC recorded the highest percentage of polling of 53.4, it was lowest in Holenarsipur with only 18 per cent of those eligible casting their votes. The percentage of voting in other APMCs in the district is follows: Arsikere, 49.9; Belur, 31.3; Channarayapatna, 47.6; and Hassan, 38.4. Elections were held for only one constituency in Holenarsipur and of the 7 vacancies of directors, 6 were elected unopposed. In the election held in Kasaba hobli, only 1,864 of the 10,941 eligible voters cast their votes, according to sources.
