CHITRADURGA: N.Y. Hanumanthappa, Chitradurga MP, has said that developmental works of a permanent nature must be taken up to ensure that Molakalmuru does not face drought conditions. Inaugurating work on a drinking water scheme at Ramapura village in Molakalmuru taluk, around 120 km from here on Saturday, he stressed the need for public cooperation in implementing developmental works. Border villages require drinking water, roads, school buildings and other essential amenities immediately. Priority should be given to providing basic infrastructures, he added. N.Y. Gopalakrishna, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, gave the details of the road development works. Development and asphalting of road from Devasamudra to Thimmalpura, the road connecting the State Highway to Konapura, and the road from Hanagal to Hirehalli have been almost completed, he said. He said that Rs. 35.50 lakhs has been sanctioned to take up the improvement and asphalting of the road from Raipura to the border of Kudligi, the road from Venkatapura to the border of Andhra Pradesh, and the road from Konapura to Shirekolla, he added. He instructed officials to start the works immediately. A grant of Rs. 2.40 crores has been made under the Swaccha Grama Yojane and basic infrastructure will be provided to 24 villages, he said. He asked the Assistant Executive Engineer of the zilla panchayat to begin the work on the same immediately. Ashwini Ashok, president of the gram panchayat, and Ganganna, vice-president of the panchayat, were present.
