MUMBAI: The Mumbai Police on Monday arrested one more bookie, Arjun Nihalchandani, from Ahmedabad. This is the third arrest after Shobhan Mehta and Ashok Kamdar were held and released on bail earlier this month. Nihalchandani will be produced before a city court on Tuesday. Nihalchandani was arrested in the ongoing case of violations of The Telegraph Act and The Public Gambling Act. Shobhan Mehta alias Shobhan Kalachowkie is one of the main suspects in the match fixing scandal, and Ashok Kamdar alias Ashok Royal is a close associate of Mehta. Mumbai police said they were investigating their roles in the match-fixing scandal, their links to the underworld and also the possibility of match-fixing in the recent India-Pakistan series. The court has directed them to surrender their passports to the investigating agency, and not to leave the country without prior permission from the court.
