KOZHIKODE: : The Marad Judicial Inquiry Commission will hold a sitting at the conference hall of the Ernakulam Guest House on Friday. It is for the first time that the one-man commission, appointed by the State Government to probe the massacre on Marad beach on May 2, 2003, will be holding a sitting outside Kozhikode. The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) ideologue, P. Govinda Pillai, well-known lawyer Kumarakom Sankunni Menon, who is based in Kottayam, and Dr. Rajan Gurukkal, the head of the Department of History, Mahatma Gandhi University, will be examined as witnesses of the commission on that day. Commission sources said that the examination was to collect their opinion on the issues relating to the terms of reference of the commission. One of the terms of reference was to suggest suitable recommendations. A.A. Wahab, an Indian National League (INL) leader, who is also a relative of A. Abdul Rahim, Superintendent of Police (Crimes), Thiruvananthapuram, will be examined by the commission here on Wednesday. Mr. Rahim, a former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kozhikode, had already deposed before the commission. Former Chief Minister A.K. Antony will be examined in Kozhikode on June 10. Former Police Commissioner of Kozhikode City T.K. Vinod Kumar, now undergoing a two -year programme in the United States, will be examined on June 17.
