7 sentenced to death for murder of three

VELLORE:
Seven persons were sentenced to death by S. Mani, Judge of the Fast Track Court, Tirupattur, on Monday on a charge of having murdered three persons belonging to the same family.
According to the prosecution, Jayavelu (32), Kannan (39) and Selvam (35), all sons of Nasu of Azhugumandiripattu near Vaniyambadi, along with their relatives, Settu (45), Govindan (25), Shekhar (25) and Anbu (26) went to the house of Nasu's brother, Nagu alias Krishna Mandiri (65) and sought land documents pertaining to their ancestral property. This was rejected by Krishna Mandiri. Angered at this, all the seven went to his house on December 22, 1998 and attacked Krishna Mandiri, his wife, Rani (45) and daughter, Chandra (22). All the three died on the spot.
