Neena Vyas

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party president L.K. Advani has appointed party vice-president Sushil Kumar Modi as president of the Bihar unit. He replaces Gopal Narain Singh .

The announcement was made on Monday by party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

He also stated that the former Union Minister, C.P. Thakur, had been appointed chairman of the Bihar election campaign committee. As yet, no slot has been found for Shatrughan Sinha, "star" campaigner for the party in the State.

The announcements follow the allocation of the job of "sah-prabhari" or co-in-charge of party affairs in the State to Uma Bharti. General secretary Arun Jaitley continues to be in-charge of Bihar affairs and he is expected to visit Patna shortly.
