BANGALORE: Arjun Balu and co-driver Kumar Ramaswamy of Team MRF were elevated to the top spot in the K & N Mysore Safari Rally, the second leg of Motor Sports Association of India's Indian National Rally Championship. Arjun Balu had originally finished second to Vikram Mathias (Sujith Kumar) of JK Tyres but a protest lodged by Team MRF was upheld by the Stewards of the meet. Following the protest, the Stewards deliberated over a lengthy period till late into Sunday night. A decision was taken to strip all eight cars in the 1600 cc and scrutinised for technical infringements. After the scrutiny both cars of the JK Tyre team (Vikram Mathias' and Naren Kumar's) were docked for technical infringements with regard to the rear suspension. An Official statement said, "According to a report from the technical delegate, the cars do not conform to article 6.3 of MAI's Specific Regulations 2005 (Group N) IV. Hence the panel of Stewards decided to exclude car numbers one (Vikram Mathias) and two ( Naren Kumar). An appeal was permissible, however the JK Tyre team did not file an appeal within the stipulated time. With Vikram Mathias' disqualification, Team MRF took the top four spots in the 1600 cc section. The results of the other sections remained unchanged. The final results: 1600 cc: 1. Arjun Balu/ Kumar Ramaswamy (Baleno) Team MRF 1:04.45; 2. Lohit V. Urs/ Moosa Sharif (Baleno) Team MRF 1:04.47; 3. Arjun Rao Aroor/R Satish Kumar (Baleno) Team MRF 1:05.30; 4. Karandip Singh/Jaidas Menon (Baleno) Team MRF 1:05.41.
