Rs.2.49 cr. distributed for development works

The fund was raised by auctioning mines and minerals in the district

NAGERCOIL: : A sum of Rs. 2.49 crores, which was collected towards seigniorage (royalty) by auctioning mines and minerals in the district, had been disbursed to 10 village panchayats and 12 special grade village panchayats to carry out development works, said the Collector, Sunil Paliwal.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, the Collector said that there were 45 rough stone quarries. Of the total seigniorage amount of Rs2.49 crores including Rs.1.27-crore lease amount, a sum of Rs. 25,713 had been distributed to Agastheeswaram Panchayat Union, Rs. 27.35 lakhs to Ramapuram Village Panchayat, Rs. 6,500 to Tamaraikulam Village Panchayat, Rs. 14.81 lakhs to Kaniyakulam Village Panchayat under Rajakkamangalam Panchayat Union, Rs. 1.10 lakhs to Senbakaramanputhur Village Panchayat and Rs. 3.47 lakhs to Erachakulam Village Panchayat under Thovalai Panchayat Union.

Similarly, Rs.1.79 lakhs had been distributed to Ayakodu Village Panchayat, Rs. 3.41 lakhs to Surulacode Village Panchayat under Thiruvattar Panchayat Union, Rs. 1.18 lakhs to Vellancode Village Panchayat under Melpuram Panchayat Union, Rs. 1.30 lakhs to Painkulam Village Panchayat under Munchirai Panchayat Union and Rs. 1.3 lakhs to Midalam Village Panchayat under Killiyur Panchayat Union. Moreover, a sum of Rs. 20.39 lakhs had been distributed to Aloor Special Grade Panchayat, Rs. 9.17 lakhs to Villukury Special Grade Panchayat, Rs. 38.25 lakhs to Thazakudi Special Grade Village Panchayat, Rs. 98.62 lakhs to Marunkur Special Grade Village Panchayat, Rs. 9.7 lakhs to Myladi Special Grade Panchayat, Rs. 2.88 lakhs to Kumarapuram Special Grade Panchayat, Rs. 5.3 lakhs to Verkilampi Special Grade Panchayat, Rs. 2.99 lakhs to Ponmanai Special Grade Panchayat, Rs. 6.21 lakhs to Kadayal Special Grade Panchayat, Rs. 39,000 to Thirparappu Special Grade Panchayat, Rs. 3,100 to Arumanai Special Grade Panchayat and Rs. 22,256 to Kappiyarai Special Grade Panchayat to implement development works, said the Collector.
