BJP leader criticises TDP resolution

People already living in integrated State: Vidyasagar Rao

KARIMNAGAR: The former Union Minister and BJP senior leader, Ch Vidyasagar Rao has flayed the Telugu Desam Party for passing a resolution at its Mahanadu programme for sacrificing their lives for the cause of integrated Andhra Pradesh and launch agitation programmes.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr Rao questioned about where was the need for the TDP to sacrifice their lives for the cause of the State when all the people were living in integrated Andhra Pradesh. He ridiculed the TDP decision of launching agitation programmes for the integrated Andhra Pradesh. "There was no mention of Telangana liberation day (September 17), implementation of GO 610, Girgilani committee report, six-point formula etc. But they (TDP leaders) were saying that they would sacrifice their lives for united AP,'' he ridiculed.

The Left Parties, TDP and the Congress party were for integrated Andhra Pradesh, he said adding that the BJP was for the cause of smaller states for better administrative purposes. He demanded the TDP president, N Chandrababu Naidu to rethink about the decision of launching agitational programmes for the cause of united AP as it would create unrest in the State.

Maharashtra projects

With regard to the illegal constructions on the river Godavari in Maharashtra, he alleged that the State Government had failed to protect the interests of Telangana farmers. He said that the Maharashtra Chief Minister during his visit to Tirumala had stated that they were not constructing any illegal projects on the Godavari and they had total rights on the river waters.

He called upon all the political parties to unite and protect the interests of the farmers of Telangana in general and Karimnagar district in particular. He asked the Government to construct step-ladder projects on the river Godavari with zero submergence. He also suggested the Government take up the Inchampally project and name it after the former Karimnagar MP, J Chokka Rao.

He said that the district unit of the BJP was planning to launch novel programme of showing to the State Government that the check-dams could be constructed without any submergence and use water through gravity in several places of the district along the river Godavari basin. He said that they were planning to form human chains across river Godavari at Vemulakurthi, Badanakurthi, Sadarmath and Ganganala areas in the district.
