Sunil Dutt's ashes immersed

RISHIKESH: The urn containing the ashes of the Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister and noted film star, Sunil Dutt, was immersed in the Ganges here today.

The ritual was carried out by the family members of Dutt, including his son Sanjay, son-in-law Kumar Gaurav, daughters Namrata and Priya in the presence of priests. Uttaranchal Chief Minister N.D. Tiwari and State's Sports Minister Pritam Singh, among others, paid tributes to the departed leader.

A number of senior officials and Congress workers were also present.

Mr. Dutt had passed away in Mumbai on May 25 following a massive heart attack.

Yesterday, Mr. Dutt's remains were received at Behalgarh village by the Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and as the urn moved through the state, people and fans of the late Bollywood actor lined up on both sides of the national highway to pay homage.
