PATHANAMTHITTA: Hundreds of activists of the Communist Party of India (CPI) laid siege to Government offices at five centres in the district on Monday, in protest against the alleged "anti-people" policies of the UDF Government. The CPI State executive committee member and general secrtary of the Kerala Electricity Workers' Federation (KEWF), M. Sukumara Pillai, inaugurated the agitation in front of the Mini-Civil Station in Pathanamthitta at 8 a.m. The siege of the Adoor Revenue Divisional Office was inaugurated by the CPI(M) district secretary, Mundappally Thomas, and that of the Thiruvalla RDO's office by the assistant secretary, A.P.Jayan. The party assistant secretary, P.Prasad, inauguarted the agitation in front of the Ranni Taluk Office while the AITUC district secretary, M.V. Vidyadharan, inaugurated the siege of the Mallappally Taluk Office. The siege at all the five centres continued up to1 p.m.
