JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje, has called upon the District Collectors to ensure speedy redressal of people's grievances by increasing the sensitivity of administration and provide quality services to the common man. Addressing a conference of Collectors at the State Secretariat here on Sunday, Ms. Raje affirmed that the administrative structure should respond to people's needs with a sense of responsibility and sympathy, while pointing out that the concept of "good governance" would work only if all levels of administration were sensitised. Ms. Raje instructed the Collectors to formulate the district-level action plans for the current financial year and spell out the targets to be achieved. She said the Collectors should undertake extensive tours to remote villages in their respective districts to get the first hand information regarding people's problems. The Ministers and Secretaries in charge of districts were earlier asked to visit the far-off regions. The Chief Minister said her Government had accorded the highest priority to the areas such as healthcare, family welfare, education, drought relief and women and child development. Describing the investors as the "best brand ambassadors" of the State, she said all attempts should be made to make their ventures hassle-free. Ms. Raje underlined the need for special action on heritage conservation keeping in view the vast tourism potential in the State and said private sector's cooperation should be secured for maintenance and renovation of important monuments. On the drought relief front, she said the transparency in the relief works and timely payment of wages and foodgrain to the labourers should be ensured. Asking the Collectors to cover all school children under the midday meal scheme, Ms. Raje said it would open up new dimensions of development in Rajasthan. She said the surprise checks would ensure a good quality of food distributed in the schools and added that the self-help groups could extend help in the preparation of meals. The Chief Minister said the success of the "Prashaasan Sheheron Ke Sang" (administration reaching towns) campaign - to be launched across the State from June 16 to 30 - would be ensured by concerted action to settle people's grievances. Ms. Raje also touched the subjects of wasteland development, information technology schemes, seasonal diseases and vacancies of doctors and para-medical staff in the Government hospitals in her address.
