THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: : The Kerala Shastra Sahihtya Parishad has demaded the rejection of the Justice John Mathew Commission report on mineral sand-mining. K. N. Ganesh, president and V. G. Gopinathan, secretary of the organisation, said here on Monday that it was improper on the part of the Commission which had been appointed as an expert agency to study the environmental impact of mining to submit the report without conducting any study. The Parishad had pointed out the drawbacks of the Commission at the time of its constitution itself. Te justitication which the Commission gave for giving the green signal for mining was that majority of those who deposed before it approved it. A scientific study of the environmental impact and collection of evidence under the Commission of Enquiry Act were different things.
