KOCHI: Bishop Markose Mar Curilose, the Metropolitan of the Jacobite church, passed away at a private nursing home early on Monday. He was 58. The Bishop was ailing for some time and was undergoing treatment at a hospital here for the past one year. He was the Bishop of Thiruvananthapuram-Niranam dioceses. The body will be kept for the public to pay homage at Karingachira and Manarkad and would then be taken to Pampady in Kottayam district. Bishop Markose was born on October 6, 1946 at Vadavathur in Kottayam district and educated at the CMS College. He was ordained as priest in 1974. He served in various parishes and was head of liturgy at the seminary. He was consecrated as Metropolitan in 2001. The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, visited the Bishop during his hospitalisation here last week.
