Rain brings relief

HYDERABAD: Rain lashed parts of the State on Monday under the influence of a trough, giving relief from the scorching heat.

There was a downpour in Vijayawada and its neighbourhood, inundating several low-lying localities. Light to moderate rain will continue over coastal Andhra on Tuesday, according to a forecast issued by the State Met Office.

Atmakur recorded a rainfall of 6 cm, Anantapur 4 cm, Tirupati Airport, Repalli 3 cm, Gudur, Palamaneru, Venktagiri and Pamidi 1 cm each.

Day temperatures fell at one or two places in the State. Nandyal, Nizamabad and Ramagundam recorded the State's highest day temperature at 42 degrees Celsius for the day.
