TDP trying to reopen wounds of Telangana people, says BJP

Staff Reporter

Party is in favour of smaller States, says Laxman

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday said that the resolution on undivided State adopted by the TDP at the Mahanadu amounted to reopening wounds of people from Telangana.

It was not good to give such a call in the present circumstances when people had taken to an agitational path, the party general secretary, K. Laxman, said at a press conference here.

He said the BJP was in favour of smaller States, Telangana being one of them, but it had not taken any decision on launching a movement for it.

Nevertheless, a meeting of State office-bearers of the party in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday would discuss need for an agitational programme on the alleged injustice being done to Telangana by non-implementation of G.O. No. 610 and construction of projects by Maharashtra on the Godavari.

Mr. Laxman said the BJP would support RTC strike if it became inevitable.

However, the party asked the Government to take steps to avert the strike. He said the Government was not serious about solving demands of RTC employees.
