GUNTUR: Except for a few mango farmers, the 999.2 mm rainfall in Guntur district was very useful for the farmers, who see it as an indication of good monsoon. The average temperature in the district also drastically fell from 44 degrees Celsius in the past 15 days to 38 degrees Celsius recorded on Sunday. Out of the 57 mandals, 45 mandals recorded rainfall ranging from 95 mm in Duggirala to 1.2 mm in Bapatla. Most of the towns in the dry Palnadu region also received rains, bring much needed relief to the residents. The farmers began tilling the fields and wish to prepare seed beds by middle of June.
