Three held in Mangalore, revolver seized

MANGALORE: The Mangalore North police arrested three persons under the Arms Act here on Sunday. They have been identified as Shanu alias Sonu (26) and Kamalesh (25) of Bihar and Vinayak (22), a resident of Saripalla near here. Police recovered an empty country-made revolver from the possession of Shanu.

They were handed over to the police by people at a local cinema where they got into an altercation over a trivial reason.

Police said Shanu reportedly whipped out the pistol to threaten other people at the cinema. When they realised that Shanu was brandishing an empty revolver, a few among them thrashed him and Kamalesh, while Vinayak escaped with minor injuries. Police, who rushed to the spot, arrested the three.

Raid

Police raided nine video games parlour across the city and arrested 22 persons on the charge of gambling. The Mangalore North Police raided five places at Old Bus Stand, Linking Towers and Central Market and arrested Kishore Kumar, Radhakrishna Shetty, Dinesha, Udaya, Kamalaksha, Roshan, Manjunath, Dayananda, Bharath, Chetan, Satish and Dinesh Shenoy. They seized 12 machines worth Rs. 1.2 lakhs.

Ullal and Mangalore South (Pandeshwar) police raided illegal video games parlour in their limits and arrested 10 persons in this connection.

Killed in accident

One person was killed and five were injured when a lorry going towards Bangalore collided with a car by which they were travelling, near Shirady on National Highway 48 on Monday.

Police identified the dead as Indira (70).

He died while being taken to a hospital for treatment. E.M. Cyriac, Nataraj, Sharath, Hemanth and Chandrashree are the injured.
