Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan felicitated for Padma Shri

CHENNAI: Representatives from various walks of life in the city on Monday felicitated violin maestro Kunnakudi R. Vaidyanathan for being conferred the Padma Shri award this year.

The function held on Monday at the Narada Gana Sabha Hall was presided over by Carnatic musician B. Rajam Iyer.

L. Sabarathnam representing Kartik Fine Arts, industrialist Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetti, R. Krishnaswamy of Narada Gana Sabha and A. Natarajan, former director of Doordarshan Kendra Chennai, were among others who felicitated him.

Mr. Vaidyanathan was presented with a shawl, a gold chain and a platter. Speaking on the occasion, he thanked all those who helped him during his lifetime.

A feature film produced and directed by him — `Ulaa Vandha Nila' — was screened.
