B.M. Narasimhamurthy dead

BANGALORE: The Nandini Layout corporator, B. M. Narasimhamurthy, died here on Monday at a private hospital after prolonged illness. He was 56. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.

Mr. Narasimhamurthy was a senior corporator and was elected for two consecutive terms on a Congress ticket.

Besides being a member of various standing committees, he headed the Standing Committee on Health in 2003. He was in the race for the Mayor's post last year.

As a mark of respect to the departed soul, the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) offices will remain closed on Tuesday.

Essential services such as hospitals, election offices, markets and control rooms will function, stated an official press release.

Condolences

The Mayor, R. Narayanaswamy, and the Deputy Mayor, N. Shantakumari, and the entire BMP Council mourned Mr. Narasimhamurthy.

The Commissioner, K. Jothiramalingam, and his team of officials have condoled Mr. Narasimhamurthy's death.

B.R. Nanjundappa, Leader of the Opposition in the BMP Council; Padmanabha Reddy of the Janata Dal (United); and B.M. Mangala of the Bharatiya Janata Party have condoled the death of Mr. Narasimhamurthy in separate press releases.
