Lovers elope, surrender after 10 days

Woman gives sleeping pills-laced food to husband

HYDERABAD: A married woman, who eloped with her lover, a 19-year-old Intermediate dropout after giving sleeping pills-laced food to her husband on May 19, surrendered before the Chilkalguda police on Monday.

The woman, S. Reshma (25) had married a 31-year-old software engineer in 1999.

According to Chilkalguda Inspector, G.P. Vinod Kumar, Reshma and her paramour, Dasari Gourav, who were having an affair for one year, decided to elope after giving sleeping tablets to her husband on May 19 night.

They took along his ATM card and withdrew Rs. 80,000 from the ATM. The duo left for Tirupati and then to Vijayawada and Guntur.

Money gone, surrender on

However, after they blew up the money, they decided to return to Hyderabad and surrender. They were remanded to judicial custody.

The couple has a three-year-old daughter, Deepika and resides at Kanaka Mahalaxmi apartments at Padmaraonagar. Gourav also stays in the same apartment complex.

"Reshma's husband draws Rs. one lakh per month. He now wants to divorce Reshma," Mr. Vinod Kumar said. Gourav's father is the Chief Manager in a bank.
