BELLARY: Babulal Jain, member of the National Rail Users' Consultative Committee, New Delhi, has urged the General Manager of South Western Railway to divert some of the trains via. Bellary, Hospet, Gadag for the convenience of the passengers in the region. In a letter to the General Manager, Mr. Jain said that the Bellary-Hospet-Gadag region has been neglected as far as providing rail amenities and benefits is concerned. He urged the authorities concerned to divert at least one pair of trains plying between Bangalore-Ajmer and Bangalore Jodhpur via Bellary, Hospet and Gadag. He said that several north Indians have been residing in the districts of Anantapur, Bellary, Koppal, Gadag, Bijapur and Bagalkot and it is essential to divert at least one pair of the several trains (train nos. 6506, 6508 and 6510), via the route. He said that he had a meeting with the Chief Passenger Traffic Manager, South Central Railway, Secunderabad, who assured him of giving necessary clearance if a proposal was put forth. Mr. Jain said that the Bangalore (Yeshwantapur) Nizamuddin Karnatak Sampark Kranti Express has not been benefiting passengers of the State. With a view to benefit the travelling public, the train needs to be re-routed through Harihar, Hubli and Miraj, at least twice a week, he suggested. Mr. Jain urged the authorities concerned to divert the train no. 1018 (Bangalore-Dadar Chalukya Express running six days a week) and train no. 1036 (Mysore-Dadar Sharavati Express which runs once a week), which are plying via Arsikere-Hubli, via. Guntakal, Bellary, Koppal, Gadag and Hubli. He demanded that additional coaches be added to the Miraj-Bellary-Miraj passenger train. He urged the extension of Tirupati-Guntakal passenger train up to Hubli.
