CHITRADURGA: Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Mallya has released Rs. 33 lakhs from the MP's local area development fund for various development works in Molakalmuru taluk in Chitradurga district. H.T. Nagi Reddy, member of state executive committee of Janata Party, in a press release here on Tuesday, detailed various works taken up with the funds provided by Mr. Mallya. He said that works worth Rs. 13 lakhs are in the completion stage and a grant of around Rs. 20 lakhs has been sanctioned to take up works in Molakalmuru taluk under Mr. Mallya's MPLAD funds. Every effort has been taken to check the quality of works, he said. About Rs. 7.6 lakhs has been granted for the construction of Mahila Bhavans in 12 villages; Rs. 8.8 lakhs for the construction of school building in eight villages and around 5 lakhs for three hostels in the constituency, the release said. Mr. Reddy alleged that works taken up with the assistance of State and Central Government grants in Molakalmuru taluk were of poor quality. Programmes such as food-for-work and employment assurance scheme are of no help to the needy. In majority of villages, the poor are migrating to other places in search of work, but the State machinery failed to come to the rescue of people, he alleged.
