BANGALORE: The Minister for Higher Education, D. Manjunath, said here on Tuesday that the Government will hold talks with private colleges and ensure the smooth completion of the seat selection process for professional courses. Announcing the Common Entrance Test (CET) results, he said the Government is confident of overcoming all issues and conducting hassle-free counselling at the CET Cell. When pointed out that the Government has very little time to arrive at an agreement with colleges, he said there is no problem as far as engineering courses are concerned. The Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), K. Balaveera Reddy, is holding discussions with the colleges in this regard, he said. As far as other courses are concerned, the Government will take ensure that the problem is sorted out before counselling begins. He said no date has been fixed yet to hold discussions with the private college managements. He added that private colleges are willing to cooperate with the Government. He said the State Government is making efforts to start five new medical colleges from this academic year. When asked for details, he said the Government is recruiting staff and building the required infrastructure.
Revaluation
The Special Officer of the CET Cell, D.N. Naik, said 32,000 candidates who appeared for the PUC examination have sought photocopies of answer sheets. In the case of 26,000 of them, the photocopies have been sent. The candidates should apply for revaluation within three days of receipt of the photocopies, he said. If the marks vary after revaluation, fresh ranks will be assigned without the candidates having to apply for it again. The CET cell will also publish the correct answers to 16 versions of the four subjects and Part-1 of the aptitude test for admission to architecture course on the notice boards of examination centres. The answer key will be made available on the CET websites as well.
Seat selection
He said the cell will conduct seat selection process from May 14 to August 31 in two phases: admission round seat selection (from June 6 to July 22) and casual vacancy round seat selection (from July 29 to August 31). The details are as follows: Admission round: Stage 1 (June 14 to 18), special categories (physically disabled, NCC, and sports). Stage 2 (from June 20 to 24), Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Homoepathy, Unani, naturopathy, and yoga courses. (June 20 up to rank 1500; June 21 up to 4,500; June 22 up to 14,000; June 23 up to 28,000; and June 24 till the last rank). Stage 3 (June 27 to July 20) for engineering and technology courses (June 27 up to rank 1,300; June 28 up to 2,600; June 29 up to 4,000; June 30 up to 5,400; July 1 up to 6,800; July 2 up to 8,200; July 4 up to 9,600; July 5 up to 11,000; July 6 up to 13,000; July 7 up to 15,000; July 8 up to 17,500; July 9 up to 20,000; July 11 up to 23,000; July 12 up to 26,000; July 19 up to 29,000; July 14 up to 32,000; July 15 up to 35,000; July 16 up to 39,000; July 18 up to 43,000; July 19 up to 47,000; July 20 up to 53,000; July 21 till the last rank.) Stage 4 (July 22): Architecture course for all. Casual vacancy round seat selection: Stage 1 (July 29 August 6): for medical, dental, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy and Yoga courses. Stage 1A (July 29): For all in physically disabled, NCC, and sports categories. Stage 1B, for Reserved Category candidates: July 30 up to rank 11,000; August 1 up to 30,000; and August 2 till the last rank. Stage 1C, for general merit and all reserved category candidates: August 4 up to rank 11,000; August 5 up to 30,000; August 6 till the last rank. Stage 2, for engineering and technology courses: Stage 2A (August 8): For all in special categories Stage 2B, for reserved categories: August 9 up to rank 10,000; August 10 up to 20,000; August 11 up to 30,000; August 12 up to 40,000; August 13 up to 50,000; August 16 till the last rank. Stage 2C, for general merit and all reserved category candidates: August 18 up to rank 3,000; August 19 up to 6,500; August 20 up to 10,500; August 22 up to 14,500; August 23 up to 18,500; August 24 up to 22,500; August 25 up to 25,000; August 26 up to 30,000; August 27 up to 35,000; August 28 up to 40,000; August 29 up to 46,000; and August 30 till the last rank. Stage 3 (August 31): For all the rank holders for architecture course.
