KOLLAM: In a no-confidence motion passed on Tuesday, the general secretary of the National Congress (Indira), Chidara Madhu, lost his post as the president of the Congress-controlled Quilon Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank. Mr. Madhu had held the post for the past 21 years. The no-confidence motion was moved in morning when the 11-member director board of the bank went into session. Except for one member, who was absent, all the others present voted in favour of the motion. Mr. Madhu later told presspersons that deprival of the post has not in any way eroded his loyalty towards the NC(I) leader K. Karunakaran. The students wing of the NC(I) held a demonstration in front of the bank to register protest against the no-confidence motion.
