MALAPPURAM: A seminar held here in connection with the fourth anniversary celebrations of the United Democratic Front Government called upon the authorities to ensure that the country's development plans could survive the onslaught of globalisation. "If we fail to find ways to survive, the next generation will have to pay the price," said Civic Chandran, social activist, presenting a paper on `politics of development'. "We should get back to nature should our dreams of development come true," he said, adding that small industries were the ideal means of development for Kerala.. Moderating the seminar, C.P. Rajasekharan, director of All India Radio, Kozhikode, said that no development could take place without the awareness of people. The problems caused by lack of awareness are more in our country than elsewhere, he said. K.S. David, a consultant psychotherapist, called upon those who design development strategies to plan programmes only after measuring the psyche of the people. P. Sundararajan, environmentalist, pointed out that projects without foreseeing the other side of development were creating problems in society. A change in the ruling front or the rulers will not make any difference to Kerala's development front, he said.
