KHAMMAM: The ten day Prajahita Padayatra organised by the CPI(M) culminated in a show of strength in the town on Tuesday. The party workers mobilised from 41 wards laid siege to the municipal office seeking solution to the civic problems. Addressing the protesters, the CPI(M) central committee member and Khammam MLA, Thammineni Veerabhadram, said the party could list a number of pressing problems in the town. The end of the ten-day programme would mark the beginning of the party's fight on the civic issues, he said. Problems listed out during the Padayatra would be taken up with the department concerned, he added. An effort would be made to provide solution to all issues in the next 60 days. Mr. Veerabhadram demanded the administration to implement the slum development programme in the town on a priority basis. He also wanted a fair share of the DFID programme funds for the town. He said redress of the problems identified during the programme would require Rs 1.04 crores.
