CHENNAI: The Teynampet police arrested two persons on Tuesday on charges of blackmailing and cheating a college student. They were identified as Kumar of Kottur and Venkat of Adyar. Both worked as assistant cameramen. Police said the duo had taken photographs of the student promising her a career in modelling or movies but demanded money in exchange. The duo had placed an advertisement in an English daily and the girl got in touch with them. They had taken the girl for a photo session to a beach house in Injambakkam. After the shoot, they demanded money to develop the photographs. Though she paid them Rs. 1,900 but they demanded more and also threatened her that they would send the photos to her parents.The girl called her brother who in turn informed the police, who arrested them.
