Classes for B.Ed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAMTHIRUVANANTHAPURAMTHIR: The Kerala University has granted provisional affiliation and permission to the St. Thomas Training College of Marthoma Church Educational Society at Mukkolakkal, to start classes for the academic year 2005-06. The total student strength has been fixed at 100. Fifty per cent of the seats will be filled by the management and the rest according to Government norms, a statement issued by the Mar Thoma Church Educational Society here said. - Staff Reporter

Arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAMTHIRUVANANTHAPURAMTHIR: The police have arrested two members of a gang who are accused in several cases of armed theft in various parts of the city.

Rajendran (28), a resident of Kachani, Vattiyoorkavu and Suresh Das (23), a resident of Mithra Nagar, Vattiyoorkavu, were arrested by the police party at Mannammoola, after following the car in which the duo were travelling. They were produced before court and remanded for 14 days. - Staff Reporter

Combing operations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAMTHIRUVANANTHAPURAMTHIR: The city police have arrested nearly 100 persons on the charge of drunken driving on Tuesday night. Another 386 persons were arrested on the charges of eve teasing and drunken and riotous behaviour. The arrests were made during a city-wide night combing operations. - Staff Reporter

Swami Gahananada arrives

THIRUVANANTHAPURAMTHIRUVANANTHAPURAMTHIR: The new head of the Ramkrishna mission, Swami Gahanananda, arrived here at the Nedumbassery airport on Tuesday morning on a private visit. This is his first visit to the State after taking charge as the president of the mission. Gahanananda, later left for Kalady. - A Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAMTHIRUVANANTHAPURAMTHIR: Syed Masood, who has been on the managing committee of the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry for 25 years, was felicitated here by the Chamber members on Tuesday.
