NEW DELHI: All roads will lead to the Campus this Wednesday as Delhi University officially opens its gates for students by starting the process of sale and submission of admission application forms. While 16 information centres spread across the Capital will be selling the much talked about ICR forms, colleges are gearing up for the high load that Day One is likely to present. With the University this year asking the various centres to sell only one form per person, passing on the responsibility to a friend may not help this time round. After last year's experience of getting more than they could handle on the first day, Kirori Mal College -- one of the three information centres on the North Campus -- has decided to begin with three counters for the sale of forms. In case of more demand, the college has made provisions for two more counters. "We have made parking space available in the college sports ground. Since it is very hot, we have also decided to install four to five water coolers at various locations inside the college so that students don't have to pay for water," said Kirori Mal College Principal Bhimsen Singh. The two others centres on the North Campus where forms will be available are the office of the Dean of Students' Welfare (DSW) and the Arts Faculty. Although the ICR form is meant to give the students the option of applying for ten courses in eight colleges at one time, University officials say last year's record show that some students had presented as many as 25 combinations with one form. In case of any problem or confusion, students can approach the grievance committee of the college concerned and in case of the problem not being addressed write to the Central Grievance Committee set up in the North and South Campus. With cases of harassment increasing in the recent past, the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) too has issued a helpline. Students can ring up the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North Delhi, Anurag Kumar (23811770), ACP Civil Lines (9810300830), SHO Maurice Nagar, Rajendra Pathania (9810030663), SHO Roop Nagar (9899090920), DUSU president Narendra Tokas (9811746913) and DUSU vice-president Ashok Basoya (9212005012). Wednesday will also be the first day of the counselling sessions for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes students. To be held at the University Sports Complex, there will be four sessions every day till June 15 of one-hour duration each. Students coming under the category can, however, register themselves at any of the other three centres at the office of the Joint Dean Students' Welfare, South Campus; Rajdhani College at Raja Garden, and Bhimrao Ambedkar College at Yamuna Vihar between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Physically handicapped students will need to register themselves at the DSW office on the North Campus.
