NEW DELHI: Two persons who killed a man following monetary dispute in Kanjhawala in North Delhi four years ago were sentenced to life imprisonment by a city court on Wednesday. Additional Sessions Judge R.P.S. Teji found Bal Kishen and Arvinder guilty under section 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of IPC for strangulating Ramesh, putting his body in a gunny bag and disposing it off in a pond. However, wife of Bal Kishen, accused of destroying evidence in the case and helping in disposing off the body, was acquitted as the prosecution failed to prove the charges against her. Convict Bal Kishen had bought a house worth Rs 2.25 lakh from the deceased for which he had paid Rs 10,000 as advance. He was allowed to occupy the house on an assurance that he would soon pay the remaining amount. But arguments often broke between the two after the convict refused to make any further payment for another two years. On June 6, 2001, Bal Kishen, along with the other accused strangulated Ramesh with a piece of cloth. They then disposed off the body in a pond. -- PTI
