KOTTAYAM: The installation of Mar Kuriakose Kunnassery as the first Archbishop of Kottayam Archdiocese of Syro-Malabar Church, the exclusive congregation of the Knanaya Catholic community, will be held on Friday. The ceremony will begin at Christ the King Cathedral here at 2 p.m. The special Mass will be celebrated on the occasion under the leadership of Major Archbishop Varkey Cardinal Vithayathil, with Mar Abraham Viruthikulangara, Archbishop of Nagpur, and Mar George Valiyamattom, Archbishop of Thalassery, acting as co-celebrants. Mar Kunnassery will be accorded a public reception at BCM College auditorium in the evening. Mar Vithayathil will inaugurate the meeting. Catholicos Baselius Mar Thoma Mathews II, Philipose Mar Chrysostum Mar Thoma Metropolitan, Bishop Thomas Samuel, Revenue Minister K.M. Mani, Chief Justice Cyriac Thomas and others will speak on the occasion. All institutions run by the Kottayam diocese will remain closed on Friday on account of the celebrations, a press note said.
