Isolated rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of southwest bay and east central bay and some more parts of west central bay.

Rainfall occurred at many places over coastal Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Kerala. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, Telangana and south interior Karnataka and mainly dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are:

Tuni 5, Veeraghattam (Srikakulam dt.) 4, Visakhapatnam Airport 3, Kozhikode Airport, Karwar, Panambur, Mangalore, Visakhapatnam and Gudur (Nellore dt.) 2 each and Eraniel and Nagercoil (both Kanyakumari dt.), Perinthalmanna (Malappuram dt.) and Hosdurga (Chitradurga dt.) 1 each.

On Wednesday, the maximum temperature rose markedly to appreciably at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, rose at one or two places over rest coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, fell markedly at one or two places over north interior Karnataka, fell at one or two places over rest north interior Karnataka and changed little elsewhere over the region.

Ramagundam recorded the highest maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius in the region.

FORECAST (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Kerala, interior Karnataka and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Farmers Weather Bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry (Forecast valid until the morning of 4th June 2005): Isolated light to moderate rain is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
