Focus on railway gangmen

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Wednesday announced the constitution of a three-member committee to go into the working conditions of gangmen.

The committee, comprising the Executive Directors of Civil Engineering (General), Finance and Railway Stores, has been asked to interact with the gangmen, ascertain their requirements and submit its report within a month.

According to an official release, the Minister's directive came following his meeting with a group of gangmen of the Delhi division here.

In an interaction in the Patna-Jamalpur Section, Mr. Prasad was impressed with the commitment and devotion to duty shown by the engineering gangmen.

Mr. Prasad enquired about the type of uniforms and equipment being provided to them.
