Sand art to spread AIDS awareness

Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR: Sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik made a sculpture on the Puri beach on Wednesday to create awareness about HIV/AIDS.

He was inspired by the recent visit of the former United States President, Bill Clinton, to create awareness about the disease. The sculpture depicted a knotted ribbon, the logo of the national AIDS control programme and a skeleton showing the danger posed by the disease.

Mr. Patnaik was helped by around 50 students of his Golden Sand Art Institute.

Mr. Patnaik has represented the country in 25 international sand sculpture championships and festivals.
