Hyundai to launch new generation Accent
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
Hyundai Motor India on Thursday revealed its plan to roll out a "new generation'' model of its mid-size offering Accent in the Indian market in 2006. To gear itself for production of the new generation Accent, the company proposes to invest close to $130 million. "We plan to launch the new Accent somewhere between September 2006 and January 2007,'' the company President, B. V. R. Subbu, told media persons. The company was preparing to launch an all-new version of its luxury sedan, Sonata, next month. In fact, the investments to the tune of $500 million (including for a new plant) had been lined up.
The new car would be built on a new platform, he said, observing that details as to whether or not it would support the engine capacity of the existing model were being worked out.
