WASHINGTON: To get to a common ground over a 30-year period there are five milestones that mark a broader and deeper India-United States partnership, the first of which being the nature of the bilateral engagement itself, says the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Kamal Nath. "The Indo-U.S. relationship will be a strategic partnership covering not just international peace and security but underpinning this with close trade and commercial ties." Mr. Kamal Nath was the keynote speaker at the 30th anniversary jubilee celebrations of the United States India Business Council with his theme of address being "2035:Where We Want To Be." "... It is with a quiet confidence that I can assert where we will be in 2035. I can say this because I know where we want to be and I know that we have the wherewithal to get where we want to", he told top business leaders and executives of the two countries. The second milestone is that of an enabling environment where in the years to come India will become a knowledge hub which will serve future workers in ways unimaginable presently through a convergence of technologies. The third is in the building of stronger physical and virtual networks underscored by technology transfer and technology exchange.
