KOZHIKODE: : Four Indians Koneru Humpy, Dronavalli Harika, Krishnan Sasikiran and P. Harkrishna have figured in the first ever statistics of rated players released by the world chess governing body FIDE. Former World junior girls' champion Humpy holds the record for holding the No. 1 slot among the junior girls for the highest number of times 12. She also holds the record for having the highest rating among the junior girls (she had a rating of 2539 Elo points in the July 2001 list). Fourteen-year-old Harika is the youngest player to figure among the list current list of top players. She is ranked No. 10 among junior girls. Victor Korchnoi of Switzerland is the oldest. The 74-year-old is the World No. 96 at present. Sasikiran has the record for playing the highest number of games among the juniors (77, July 2000 list). Harikrishna is among the youngest players to break into the juniors' top 20; he was 14 when he was ranked No. 20 in October 2000. Russia's Garry Kasparov, who retired from competitive chess in March, holds the record for being the World No. 1 for most times 20. He is also the world's highest rated player ever (2849, July 2000).
