Double for Shweta

NEW DELHI: Shweta Chandra Rana won a double crown in the AITA Talent series junior tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Thursday.

The seventh standard student of Pragati Public School, Dwaraka, and a trainee of coach T. Chandrasekaran at the National Tennis Academy (NTA), Shweta won the under-12 singles title and the under-14 doubles title.

In the boys' section, Rohit Bisht won a similar double crown as he took the under-12 singles title along with the under-14 doubles title in partnership with his brother Ronit Bisht.

Amit Chauan and Disha Sehgal won the under-14 boys and girls' titles respectively. The results (finals): Boys: Under-14: Amit Chauhan bt Ronit Bisht 6-4, 6-3; Doubles: Rohit Bisht and Ronit Bisht bt Kunal Anand and Kshitij Kamal 6-2, 7-5; Under-12: Rohit Bisht bt Ronit Bisht 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5).

Girls: Under-14: Disha Sehgal bt Shweta Chandra Rana 2-6, 6-4, 6-3; Doubles: Shweta Chandra Rana and Balwinder Kaur bt Vidushi Bhalla and Arzoo Malik 6-2, 6-1; Under-12: Shweta Chandra Rana bt Abhilasha Ahuja 7-5, 6-1.
