CHENNAI: : A Sessions Court granted bail to M.K. Raghu, brother of junior Sankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswathi, in the Radhakrishnan assault case, saying there was noting to suggest that he had conspired with the other accused. Allowing the petition, the VI Additional Sessions judge, Rosaiah, who is in-charge principal sessions judge, said Raghu was in incarceration for 89 days since March 3, 2005. The merits of the case could not be gone into at this stage. He directed Raghu to execute a bail bond of Rs.10, 000 with two more sureties for a like sum to the satisfaction of the XXIII Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet. He should stay in Coimbatore and report before the Inspector of Police, Town station, daily at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Signs register
As directed by a court, Kanchi Mutt manager Sundaresa Iyer went to the Town station at Villipuram and affixed his signature on Thursday morning. While releasing him on bail, the court directed Mr. Iyer to stay at Villupuram and sign the police register twice a day (in the morning and evening). Mr. Iyer has been arraigned in the murder of Sankararaman, manager of the Kancheepuram Varadaraja Perumal temple Ramesh, a Jan Kalyan functionary, and Subramanian, advocate, accompanied him. He is staying at the Sankara Mutt here.
