New president for New Delhi YMCA

NEW DELHI: Stephen DaCosta, eminent educationist, Principal of Frank Anthony Public School (Delhi) and President of the Anglo-Indian Association (Delhi Chapter), has been elected President of New Delhi YMCA at the first meeting of its newly-elected board.

George Varghese, Vijay Sewak and James Thomas have been elected vice-presidents, while Raymond Myles will be the honorary treasurer. Samuel Kishan, Major J. K. Michael, Vijay Russell, Norris Pritam and Rishi Michael were earlier elected to the board of directors.

New PNB schemes

NEW DELHI: The Punjab National Bank on Thursday introduced its "PNB Gaurav" and "PNB Vaibhav" current account schemes at over 1,100 branches under "core banking solutions".

The Chairman and Managing Director of the Bank, S.C. Gupta, who launched the schemes here in the Capital, informed that accounts under these schemes could be opened with an initial deposit of Rs.5, 000 only. However, the quarterly average balance required to be maintained by the customers under the PNB Gaurav scheme would be Rs.1,00,000, while for PNB Vaibhav it would be Rs.5,00, 000.

These schemes, depending on the quarterly average balance of the accounts, come with lots of free concessions such as Internet banking, debit-cum-ATM card and no charges for "stop payment" instructions.

Counselling programme

NEW DELHI: The Ansal Institute of Technology is organising a special seminar-cum-career counselling programme this Saturday at its campus in Gurgaon.

The session will start at 10 a.m. and will be addressed by Patricia F. Thomas, Assistant Dean of Tarleton State University in the U.S., and some other experts. All issues related to career opportunities in professional programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees will be addressed.

Maruti wins trophy

NEW DELHI: The 14th National Competition for Business Management Simulations ended here on Wednesday with Maruti Udyog Ltd., Gurgaon, winning the national championship trophy.

The national grand finale that took place at the NTPC Power Management Institute saw the short-listed nine teams brainstorm to crack the simulations.

The team from Neyveli Lignite finished runners-up.

Both the winning teams will now represent India at the Asian Region Management Games to be held in Hong Kong later this year.

The All India Management Association (AIMA) conducted the preliminary rounds in New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Mumbai in which over 100 teams from various corporate houses participated.
