NEW DELHI: Holding Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit responsible for leaving people of the Capital water-starved, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Goel on Thursday demanded her resignation as she "no longer has the political will to solve the problems of the residents". He also announced that the voluntary organisation Lok Abhiyan, of which he is the president, would hold a "Jal Adalat" on Friday to highlight people's problems and seek answers from the Government. Talking to mediapersons in the Capital, the former Union Minister accused the Delhi Jal Board, headed by the Chief Minister, of gross mismanagement. "Almost 40 per cent of the water being supplied is wasted in the form of theft, leakage and seepage. But despite being the Chief Minister as well as the DJB Chairperson for over six years, Ms. Dikshit has failed to rectify these problems," he alleged. Terming the non-availability of raw water for the ambitious Sonia Vihar water treatment plant as Ms. Dikshit's "political failure", Mr. Goel said at present the Congress has its Governments at the Centre, Haryana and Uttaranchal while the Government in Uttar Pradesh has its support, despite this the Delhi Government had failed to get water from any of the States. Mr. Goel said Lok Abhiyan would now take this issue to the people and expose the Congress Government in the Capital. "To begin with, a public meeting would be organised on Friday where people from across the city would highlight their problems," he said, claiming that the movement was getting support from various non-government organisations, residents welfare associations and citizens.
