LUCKNOW: The blistering heat continued to sweep Uttar Pradesh, with the maximum temperatures across the state hovering between 41 and 44 degree celsius during the last 24 hours. State Weather Office today said barring Bareilly, coolest with a maximum temperature of 41 degrees, all other places in the state recorded above normal temperatures. Sultanpur and Allahabad recorded identical temperature of 44 degree celsius to be the hottest places in the state, while Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Baharaich, Lucknow and Jhansi stayed a step behind with 43 degrees celsius. No respite from the scorching heat has been suggested in the next 24 hours, as the weatherman forcast a mainly dry weather to prevail across the state. A blistering heat wave prevailing over the past few days has hit normal life in the industrial city of Kanpur. Kanpur recorded a maximum temperature of 43.2 degrees against yesterday's 42.2 degrees, officials said. The severe heat wave forced people to remain inside their homes and roads and markets wore deserted look this afternoon. Several social organisations have arranged distribution of cold water in parts of the city. The weatherma said the current heat wave condition would continue for some more days.
